I just installed Outlook and everytime I start it I get an error that it can't find my Exchange server and it won't start! What's an "Exchange server"?
Most likely what you've done is when Outlook had you create your profile you selected a "Microsoft Exchange" account. Problem is...you don't have an Exchange server. You're probably a GMail user or some other kind of e-mail account and what you actually wanted was a POP3 or IMAP account.
The easiest way to solve this problem is just to create a brand new Outlook profile with the proper account information in it.
Go to Control Panel and find the "Mail" applet. You might need to use the search box in the top right corner of Control Panel if you can't see it. You'll see a dialog box like this:
Click "Show Profiles" to get a dialog box like this:
Yours will probably only have a single profile listed - probably called "Outlook".
Click the Add button and go through the wizard to add a new profile. Be very careful to only add the services you need - again, most likely either POP3 or IMAP.
Give your new profile a name - I usually use the user's name ("JeffR" for example) but it doesn't much matter.
Once you see it listed in the profiles screen at the right you can click the original profile (probably called "Outlook") and then click Remove to get rid of it.
The Always use this profile field at the bottom should list your new profile. Click OK to save.
OK your way back out and try starting Outlook.
